What should I wear to class?
The most important thing to wear is something that you feel comfortable moving in. It is great to wear a hip scarf (but it’s not required) so you can see your body isolations. You can dance barefoot, in socks or with dancer foot pads.
Do I need any prior dance experience?
No prior dance experience is necessary. Our beginning level classes will guide you through the movements and cues. Within 6 weeks you'll be able to dance improvisationally with the class.
Where are the classes located?
All classes are held at the Rohnert Park Community Center located at 5401 Snyder Lane, in room 3. Rohnert Park is conveniently located a half hour (or less) from Petaluma, Sebastopol, Santa Rosa, Windsor, Healdsburg and Novato.
Can I sign up for Advanced class?
All students, regardless of their prior dance experience, must start with the level one class. Once you are familiar with the moves and cues in the WildCard format you can also register for the advanced class.
What are the age requirements?
Participants 18+ years old are welcome to join the class.
What if I need to miss a class?
That is fine. We have YouTube tutorial videos of the level one moves if you wish to see what you missed and want to practice. Each class starts with a dance review of all the moves that have been taught and you can follow along then.
Are Drop-Ins Allowed?
Yes! It is a great way to still attend class if you can’t commit to the whole session or just want to check the vibe. Please bring exact change or a check for the drop-in fee.
Are there performance opportunities?
Every year we have an annual showcase and all the classes will have the opportunity to perform.
What Will I learn?
In each class you will learn a new slow move and new fast move along with a review of previous classes. You will also learn to play finger cymbals - we will provide cymbals for you to use.
