What is Group Improv?
Group Improv Belly dance uses a shared vocabulary of movements allowing two or more dancers to move in unison and create spontaneous choreography. Using a leader-and-follower format, dancers communicate with physical and verbal cues to make synchronized movements and formations. Each performance is unique as we are truly creating art in the moment!
Where is this style from?
Group Improv Style (formerly referred to as Tribal Style) originated in the San Francisco Bay Area with FatChance BellyDance® in the 1980s. This dance form is inspired by dances from the historical and living traditions of MENAHT (Middle Eastern, North African, Hellenic, and Turkic) region, popularly referred to as “belly dance.”
How is WildCard Unique?
We joyfully incorporate traditional FCBD® foundations and constantly innovate with our own new moves, combos and spins. We are well known for dancing with scimitars in our high-energy, colorful performances. We are pround to present over 20 years of dance knowledge in our WildCard BellyDance group improvisational format.

Beginner/Intermediate: Where to learn basic skills.
Learn and strengthen the foundations of group improvisational belly dance. Even dancers experienced in other forms of belly dance will need to start with this class to learn the vocabulary of movements which make up the foundation of our dance.Advanced: For dancers experienced in the WildCard Format.
This class will focus on advanced techniques, diving deeper into formations and signature combinations. There may be performance opportunities for participants in this class. Note: Prior Instructor approval required to attendClasses are taught in 6-week long sessions.

Come Dance With Us
Belly Dance classes are held at the Rohnert Park Community Center, near highway 101, and easily accessible to students from Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Sebastopol, Cotati, Healdsburg and Sonoma County.

Please Note: Rohnert Park residents receive a $7 discount *per-session* at registration.
